With the addition of Reggio Calabria, Vibo Valentia, Crotone and Catanzaro, the business affirms its position as main player in the strategic areas of Southern Italy.
Iveco has confirmed appointment of the entire region of Calabria to Mecar SpA. With this operation the company becomes one of the biggest Iveco dealers in Italy – not to mention in Europe – in terms of area covered. The Provinces of Reggio Calabria, Vibo Valentia, Crotone and Catanzaro from today have been added to those of Cosenza, Salerno, Avellino and Potenza, bringing the area covered by Mecar to a total of over 30,000 km2 distributed over three Regions (Calabria, Campania and Basilicata).
This operation highlights the constant growth of the business which has been active in Calabria since the summer of 2014 in the Province of Cosenza, underlining also the reliability and financial solidity for which it is best known. The expansion into the Calabrian market, together with methodical policies of innovation and cross-selling, have allowed Mecar SpA to reach, in December 2015, an aggregate turnover of more than 40 million euros which constitutes an increase of over 50% against 2014.
The expansion of Mecar in Calabria is a milestone marked by the opening of the Cosenza branch in November 2014, followed by the endorsement of Petronas (and relative appointment of almost the entire region in September 2015), and which today sees Mecar able to count on the support of 15 employees and a vast network of authorised workshops – with a notable positive impact on the employment and economic situation of the area.
In order to guarantee efficient coverage of the Region and suitable representation of the Iveco range of vehicles, the company intends to open a further branch in Lamezia Terme in June 2016.
From its establishment in 1952, Mecar today has become one of the principal players in the sale of commercial and industrial vehicles and provision of high added value services in the fields of logistics and transport, with a network of 24 authorised workshops and partnerships capable of guaranteeing assistance to clients along all major national and European routes.
